A 6-part documentary series unveiling the real faces of dating in the city …

To call dating a difficult feat would be an understatement.

The days of courting through the handwritten word has been overthrown by an array of modern technology, social change and sexual liberation.

Add to the mix over-achievers, emotionally stunted adults and a wide acceptance and dependency on illicit drugs and alcohol to fuel social interactions, and you have the very complicated scene of dating in Sydney.

“In no other time in history have both men and women relied so heavily upon their own initiative to find a mate. But with freedom comes bedlam,” says anthropologist, Dr Bella Ellwood-Clayton.

“From romance taking place in a well-orchestrated pack, it is now a solitary enterprise. It is up to us as we show up at parties, nightclubs and in cyberspace, and most nights, return to our fabulously decorated lair, wondering why we bothered at all. Rules of the heart have been left deconstructed and nobody knows what happens next.”

For years many women have been caught in this dating vortex, persistently hopeful that they would meet a man who could fulfill their individual dreams and desires of a relationship. Many have been spat out time and time again. However, that vortex is losing momentum with Sydney women opting to find love elsewhere – moving their lives, careers and families in search for love.

Does dating differ with each postcode? Do country boys know how to treat a lady? Are coastal boys more in touch with their emotions?  Is the grass greener than Sydney’s?

We take 5 women aged between 30-41 on the drive of their life. In just two weeks they will travel from Adelaide to Rockhampton on a journey of the heart. Exposing their greatest fears, sharing their tragic losses and diving head-first into a love adventure!

In addition, the girls will be raising funds for The Cancer Council with daily video uploads of their antics, tweets about charity fundraisers and Facebook updates.

Throughout the documentary we’ll also hear from leading relationship experts and psychologists about the current trends and the frightening reality that many single people are faced with.

This series will be heartfelt, inspirational and raw.
